If you are visiting Prague or Vienna, you need to visit Cesky Krumov, a small Bohemian town in southern Czech Republic where the tourist population seems more than the locals. Many visitors make a day trip (we did as well) but I feel that it is a nice place to stay a night over. This way you will have more time to explore the place before the tour crowds overrun the place. Many parts of the castle are only available through guided tours and the schedule is wide and far apart, so by staying overnight, you won’t need to rush through the attractions.
However, if you are pressed for time, then at least make time to go up to the castle tower. Travel light if possible because you will be climbing a lot of staircases but trust me, the view is worth the climb. It reminds me a lot of Prague but much smaller and makes me feel that I am transported back to the medieval era or a fairytale land.
It is a really touristy place and you will be seeing a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops throughout the town. If you are looking for a off-the-track of the mainstream tourist crowd, this probably is not the place for you.
