Who Am I?

A few years ago, I fell in love with Photography.
Then, travel. Then, food. So, I decided that I should write travel stories: a little bit of travel, food and lots of photo.

I take joy in writing what I feel; unfortunately, my writings won’t help any fellow travellers to plan for a better trip or what is there to see. It is a monologue of a traveller who yarns to see the world and to share his stories.

The phrase ‘Free Soul in a Bird Cage’ resonates well because, in our lives, we can be free as birds if we choose to be, yet we are still bounded in earthly chains.

Travelling makes one wiser. You discover new things by going on a trip, immerse yourself in the culture, history and the way of life; appreciate what we have and what we lack.

Travelling is a never-ending quest.

The harder you try to achieve, the more you realize how far away that dream is. It is a soul-searching mission to find the missing pieces and trying to interpret what life means to different people. The only thing we discover is how little we know. (And we are already prejudiced in our opinions.)

Remember your roots

Over the years, I have slowly realized how little I know about my home country; the history and heritage. On the personal level, I felt that I should understand more how my ancestors came about in the historic eras; the rise and fall of dynasties, kingdoms in Southeast Asia. Being in the region, we were influencers, we were influenced. We were conquerors, we were conquered. I am embarking on a journey to understand how history has shaped Southeast Asia and how it influenced mine.

Meaning behind travels

I love it when there is a meaning behind my travels. It makes me feel that I am trying to understanding something, like looking at a small piece of jigsaw piece and trying to see how it fits into a huge map. Head over to my travel bucket list and you will see what I am talking about.
